• Choose digital recording –they provide excellent sound quality which helps you to save time.
• Double check that the recorder is actually recording
• Decide on a suitable digital audio level and file type
• Turn off or move away from each and every thing which makes disturbance in recording like TVs, clock, refrigerator and etc.
• Use high quality and original tapes for recording
• For telephone interviews use a telephone recording device with the capability to record both sides of the conversation. Avoid using speakerphones if possible.
• Set your recorder to the fastest speed.
• Do a test recording, holding the microphone about one hand’s distance from your storyteller’s mouth. If anything happens strange stop and figure out the problem before starting the interview.
• Use fresh batteries - make sure the battery icon shows full power for each
• Make sure you and your storyteller are comfortable
